ABOUT ME
I received my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles and completed much of my training at the Southern California Counseling Center, where I had the privilege of working with a diverse population, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. While I enjoy working with all individuals, I have a particular passion for supporting women within the queer community and those navigating life transitions, complex trauma, depression, and the broader LGBTQIA+ experience. In addition to working with adults, I also work with teens and adolescents, recognizing the unique challenges they face and the importance of early support.
My academic career has shaped my path in many ways, but receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies from UCLA was especially foundational to my work as a therapist. Focusing on the complexities of human behavior, shaped by culture, race, sexuality, ethnicity, and religion, deeply informs how I work with clients. Adopting an intersectional lens allows me to recognize that each individual’s journey is unique to their experiences, helping us understand how identity and societal expectations intersect with mental health.
I provide in-person sessions at my office located in Silver Lake, California in addition to offering virtual sessions.
MY APPROACH
A key part of my approach to therapy is meeting clients where they are, validating their experiences, and helping them explore their emotions and unmet needs. I believe that, at times, we internalize painful experiences as truths about ourselves. Part of our work together will be to offer compassion and understanding, helping to alleviate these misrepresentations.
By exploring societal expectations and cultural norms, we can gain a deeper understanding of how these factors shape identity and mental health. Drawing from psychodynamic and relational techniques, I aim to understand the roots of your challenges, often exploring how early relationships and experiences might influence your current thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. This process helps empower and validate your journey, and through the therapeutic relationship, we create a space for healing that allows you to explore, reflect, and transform in ways that might feel difficult or inaccessible on your own.
My top priority is to ensure you feel supported as you face challenging emotions. While this work can be complex, I believe in the importance of making space for levity and humor. In our sessions, we'll explore what's working in your life and what's not, helping you reconnect with yourself. As you actively engage in the process, I’m here to offer guidance and support while you navigate your journey towards transformation and growth.
